“Receive the children in reverence, educate them in love, and send them forth in freedom.” – Rudolf Steiner
A school free from standardized and IQ-based tests. A learning environment deemed healthiest by the parents, teachers, and students that consciously co-create it. A yard where children can eagerly sprint over a big pile of leaves and curiously dig deep to find that which is hidden beneath its layers—with no rush to be sucked into the world of computers, gadgets and TV.
The school we imagined for our children is here, and it’s adding vibrancy to the shaping of a more compassionate Mindanao. The Tuburan Institute is the first school in Mindanao inspired by the Steiner-Waldorf system, which is the largest independent alternative education movement in the world; it encourages balanced thinking, feeling and willing through a holistic understanding of child development and the equal importance of intellectual, practical and artistic pursuits.
Everyone’s welcome at Tuburan Institute regardless of cultural background, religious beliefs, political views, and language –with sliding scale school fees that enable families with less resources to get support from families with more resources and from individuals and institutions with big hearts.
These are images of a regular school day made special by love, self-awareness, and the passion to nurture children to live life purposefully and meaningfully. This is Tuburan Institute: the school you wish your parents brought you to.
